Teltone Announces Voice Over IP Solution for Remote-Voice Connectivity; Bringing Software-Based VoIP and Enhanced CTI to Legacy PBX Systems - OfficeLink
Teltone Corporation, a leading provider of software-based telecommuting solutions, Friday announced plans for a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) version of its OfficeLink 2000 remote-voice software.
This offering will give geographically dispersed call center agents and knowledge workers access to their company's in-house phone system using only a Windows-based PC connected to the Internet via a single IP connection.
With this solution Telecommunications Managers will be able to provide remote workers with all of the functionality of the company's digital phones without the need for hardware -- not even a physical phone. Unlike other remote-voice solutions, the Teltone software-based solution performs all the control/status functions of a company's Private Branch Exchange (PBX) and Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) systems without the need for special hardware at the remote agent's location. All of the digital phone's functionality and displays are accessible by remote workers in an application on the PC. In addition, the remote worker will also have access to other IP-based applications such as e-mail, internet access and customer relationship management (CRM) applications -- just as they would in the office.
"We are continuously adding value to the software based remote-voice solutions we provide our customers and partners. Sending voice over IP networks enables them to reduce the total cost of ownership and makes remote-voice access practical for a wide range of workers, including road warriors and widely dispersed knowledge workers," stated Mark Blazek, VP Sales & Marketing, Teltone. "The integration of VoIP technology within OfficeLink 2000 will enable our customers to quickly scale their remote voice deployments, connecting users anywhere, anytime. This offering will also be a powerful value-add for service providers looking to offer managed-network services such as VPN, Voice over DSL and Cable-Telephony."
Teltone's OfficeLink 2000 VoIP solution is based upon commercial standards including Natural Micro Systems' Fusion, H.323, G.729A, G.711,G.723.1. By integrating VoIP within Teltone's current Windows NT platform, customers will have the option to send voice calls over either circuit switched or packet switched IP networks depending on each remote worker's network connection. OfficeLink 2000 provides the most scalable remote-voice solution currently available, allowing up to 48 simultaneous connections via a single Windows NT server. Remote users can connect over any IP network via dial-up, ISDN, xDSL, cable-modems or LAN/WAN connections. The integration of VoIP in the OfficeLink environment means enterprise customers can implement OfficeLink 2000 immediately and easily migrate users to VoIP as the network infrastructure matures. The OfficeLink 2000 VoIP offering is planned for general release during the third quarter of 2000. For more information, contact Teltone at: 800/426-3926 or visit www.officelink2000.com.
